Analytic theory of multicavity klystrons

چکیده

Multicavity Klystron (MCK) is a high power microwave (HPM) vacuum electronic device used to amplify radio-frequency (RF) signals with numerous applications, including radar, radio navigation, space communication, television, repeaters, and charged particle accelerators. The microwave-generating interactions in klystrons take place resonant cavities at discrete locations along the beam. Importantly, there no electromagnetic coupling between cavities, they are coupled only by bunched electron beam, which drifts from one cavity next. We advance here an analytic theory of MCKs operating voltage amplification mode associated maximal gain. This features particular exact formulas for MCK instability frequencies, its dispersion relations optimal values parameters providing

Transient Analysis of Multicavity Klystrons

We describe a model for analytic analysis of transients in multicavity klystron output power and phase. Cavities are mod-eled as resonant circuits, while bunching of the beam is modeled using linear space-charge wave theory. Our analysis has been implemented in a computer program which we use in designing multicavity klystrons with stable output power and phase. We present as examples transient...

Evolution of High Power Klystrons

This paper will review the evolution of high power klystrons and their applications in supplying rf energy for linear accelerators. Other types of possible rf sourc2s were conside,.ed for SLAC. and the reasons for the selectioa of klystrons will be _ gcven. A brief revir-5 of klystr 1 typr in j :e fo-. various accelerators will also be given, but tht emphasis will be on the work done by Stanfor...

Analytic Number Theory

What is number theory? One might have thought that it was simply the study of numbers, but that is too broad a definition, since numbers are almost ubiquitous in mathematics. To see what distinguishes number theory from the rest of mathematics, let us look at the equation x + y = 15925, and consider whether it has any solutions. One answer is that it certainly does: indeed, the solution set for...
